Olga Hiiva has been teaching Art in New York Public since 1987. She began as a K-6 art teacher in an after-school program at Boys’ Harbor. During that time she also taught art to teenagers and rehab mothers at Our Children’s Foundation in Harlem. While at the Harbor school Olga and her students created several permanent Ceramic Mural Installations, which were funded by the Warhol Foundation. In 1991 Olga had joined the Marquis Studios resident artist team, and taught for Studio In a School. 

Olga Hiiva teaches painting, drawing, printmaking, bookmaking, murals, quilts and sculpture. Several years ago Ms Hiiva was commissioned by the City of New York/Board of education/Port Authority to develop and implement a forty ft. Ceramic Tile Mural at PS 102. For one year Olga worked with two groups of fifth and sixth grade students developing themes, creating artwork, and learning numerous art techniques. In addition to teaching children Olga conducts Staff Development workshops, Parent/ Child workshops and has taught art to college students at the Nesya Institute. 

Olga was born in the former Soviet Union in Leningrad. She was among first one hundred Russians to immigrate to Israel and later to US. Mrs.Hiiva received her Bachelor of Fine Art degree from the Corcoran school of Art, studied painting in Paris France, and completed her Masters of Fine Art at Pratt Institute NY. She currently lives, paints, and teaches in NYC.
